Case study

Virgin Media v Rovi/Tivo

We represented Virgin Media in their dispute with Rovi / Tivo. The underlying technologies related to network transmission protocols, content delivery over IP, client-server information exchange, user interfaces.

We successfully revoked all 11 patents asserted in UK litigation in three separate actions across four High Court trials and three appeals. We also filed over 70 oppositions to their portfolio of patents at the EPO, with our combined team of solicitors and attorneys enabling us to closely co-ordinate the litigation and opposition strategy.
